Help us better understand parent-child engagement on iPhones.

Survey open (August 1, 2024 - December 1, 2024)

Why does your child want an iPhone?

We feel that understanding the why is necessary before addressing the how. While parents frequently want to provide their child(ren) with access to educational apps and resources, and an iPhone can be viewed as a tool to support learning and academic work, our survey results revealed that children preferred iPhones for a broader range of entertainment options for social status reasons, as seeing friends and classmates with iPhones can create a sense of exclusion or a fear of missing out on social events and conversations.
