Part 1: The Rise of Social Reporting

The lesson objective is to instill in student participants a feeling of urgency in learning social reporting as a future skill in journalism, taking into account trends, current events, and job market opportunities.

The lesson objective is to guide students on how to think through the implications of AI on journalism and how they may start developing skills for the rapid changes in technology, providing step-by-step direction on how to produce in-studio reels that follow best practices.

The lesson objective is to present an eight-step framework for crafting a “news take,” and to go into particular examples and resources that they may utilize to create their own “news take” from start to finish.

The lesson objective is twofold: to introduce Ground News, a resource for students to understand their own political bias and that of major news networks, and to provide practical ways for student journalists to develop their voice and online presence for reporting the news on social media.
