Our Story
RISE Reporting, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, was founded in 2022. Grace recognized that news consumption was rapidly shifting toward social media platforms.
Individuals—and especially the next generation—needed tools to adapt thoughtfully to this change.
The name for RISE sparked during Grace’s conversations with her sister, Hannah. Grace began leveraging AI to refine the concept, eventually landing on the acronym RISE to capture its foundational values.
R | Responsibility
Emphasizes an ethical duty for journalists, creators, and consumers to adapt to modern digital platforms while upholding standards of accuracy, integrity, and accountability in news reporting and media engagement.
I | Investigative Mind
Promotes a critical, inquisitive approach to reading, reporting, or consuming news—considering all angles, delving into facts, and viewing the bigger picture to foster informed decision-making.
S | Societal Impact
Focuses on addressing societal concerns through news coverage that prioritizes the common good, humanity, and constructive change, such as diving into headline stories with a framework that builds up society rather than tearing it down.
E | Engagement
Encourages involving young people (and all ages) in critical, constructive discussions about news and media, building trust, debate, and better information sharing on social platforms.
What began as an educational service aimed at college students has since grown significantly.
Today, RISE Social extends these principles to a wider audience, including families, professionals, and retirees, fostering responsible news engagement across all ages.
